Balachandra G Hegde received his M.Sc., in Physics from Karnatak University, Dharwad, India in 1989 and Ph. D. degree in condense matter physics from Bangalore University, India in 2002. He worked in the area of radiation damage pathways in solids using EPR as a probe for his Ph.D. in collaboration with Prof. S. V. Bhat, IISc Bangalore. From 2002 to 2007 he worked as research associate and from 2007 to 2012 as a research scientist at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, USA. His research work at USC was in the area of structural studies of membrane bound proteins and amyloid fibrils using Pulse EPR and other Biophysical techniques. In 2013 he joined Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, Karnataka, India as an Associate Professor of Physics. He is the author of more than 20 research articles. He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Physics and involved in teaching condensed matter Physics to M.Sc. students and guiding Ph.D. students.
Research interest: structural studies of membrane bound proteins using EPR, magnetic nano particles and experimental condensed matter Physics
